Quinta Nova da Assunção

Belas, Sintra

Built around 1860 by João Maria da Silva Rego, Quinta Nova da Assunção, in the center of Belas next to the church, is a beautiful example of nineteenth-century architecture with numerous exotic influences. Inside the building stands the Chinese salon and the lining trompe l' oeil of the other rooms and corridors. In the magnificent and extensive gardens, populated by small pavilions, ponds and lakes, we can admire fantastic tiles, representing animals and other themes. In the gardens, there are temporary exhibitions of sculpture that can be visited for free.
